All major markets lost ground this last week. The job data that came out of the US at the end of the week continued the weekly drop.

The FTSE closed at 5848.1 to be down 3.9% on the week. The Dax closed at 9286.2 to end down big at 5.2% for the week. The CAC ended the week at 4200.7 to be down 4.6% on the week.

The Dow closed at 16205 for a loss of 1.6% on the week. The Nasdaq closed the week at 4363.1 for a big loss of 5.4%.

The Nikkei 225 closed the week at 16820 for a big loss of 4%.

The Yen enjoyed the best week of trading for the currency markets. Dollar lost 2% this week against the Sterling to close at $1.4466. It also lost 2.7% against the Euro for the week, to close at $1.1129. The Dollar was also a loser against the Yen for a loss of 3.4% on the week to close at 117.

The Euro couldn’t beat out the Yen for a loss of 0.73% on the week to end at 130.2. It did however gain 0.71% against the Sterling to close at 1.2998.

The Euro lost 0.17% for the week against the CHF to close at 1.1062.

Brent Crude fell 5.4% for the week to close out at $34.06 per barrel. Gold had some solid gains on the week to the tune of 5% to close out at $1173.9 per ounce.
