3 September 2016 Market Review

Last week was a good week for the major markets.

The FTSE was up by closing at 6894.6 to be up 0.83%. The Dax was up 0.91% for the week by closing at 10684. The CAC closed at 4542.2 to be up 2.3% for the week.

The Dow closed at 18492 to be up on the week 0.53%. The Nasdaq Composite Index ended the week at 5242.9 with a gain of 0.59%.

The Nikkei 225 had a great week by closing at 16926 to be up 3.5%.

The Sterling had the pleasure of having the best week of trading among the major currencies. The Dollar lost ground to the Sterling 0.96% for the week with a close of $1.3296. The Dollar gained against the Euro with a close of $1.1159 to be up 0.69%. The Dollar was also up against the Yen with a gain of 3% for the week by closing at 104.2.

The Euro gained against the Yen 2.2% by closing the week at 116.2. The Euro lost ground however against the Sterling with a close of 1.1915 to be down 1.7% on the week. The Euro gained against the CHF 0.16% with a close of 1.0938.

Brent Crude fell 6.2% for the week by closing at $46.83 per barrel. Gold was slightly up for the week 0.03% with a close of $1321.6 per ounce.
